Missouri Information Analysis Center — Public Tip Submission

About this service

The Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC) operates this public tip submission service to receive reports of suspicious, terroristic or criminal activity, cyber incidents, and other information of interest to law enforcement. MIAC is a unit of the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) within the Missouri Department of Public Safety (DPS).

This is not an emergency reporting channel. If you are reporting an emergency or a crime in progress, Call 911.

How your submission is used

Information you submit is reviewed by MIAC analysts and may be shared with federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement partners, as appropriate to the nature of the report.

Submissions are retained in accordance with 28 CFR Part 23 and the MSHP / DPS records retention policy. The submissions are purged at the expiration of the retention period, absent legal process requiring further retention.

Anonymity and follow-up

Generally, information submitted by identifiable persons is often regarded as more trustworthy or more readily verifiable; however, you may submit a tip without providing your name or contact information. If you choose to submit anonymously, you will be issued a Reference Number and password at the end of the submission process. These serve as credentials to allow you to return to the portal and exchange follow-up messages with the analyst without revealing your identity.

Save your Reference Number and password before closing the confirmation page. They cannot be recovered later.

Accuracy and truthfulness

Please report only information you believe to be accurate. Knowingly submitting false information to a law enforcement agency may constitute a criminal offense under Missouri law. If you are unsure about any of the accuracy of information you are submitting, say so and say why.

Records and Sunshine Law

Records requests for the MIAC are handled by the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Custodian of Records. Guidance on how to request records can be found at: MSHP Custodian of Records.

Certain records created or retained by the MIAC may be closed pursuant to state or federal law, including Missouri's Sunshine Law. These closed records include, but are not limited to, records containing investigative information or techniques, operational guidelines, or suspicious activity reports. Records will be closed if their release has the potential to endanger the health or safety of an individual or the public, or if the closure is otherwise permitted or required by law. Further, homeland security information created or retained by the MIAC may not be disclosed pursuant to 6 U.S.C. § 482e.
