About Courage2Report
Missouri's confidential school safety reporting service
Courage2Report is Missouri's confidential way to report concerns about student or school safety. It began in October 2001 as the Missouri School Violence Hotline and was renamed Courage2Report in 2019 as part of the Missouri School Safety Initiative.
The service is operated around the clock by the Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC), a division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and serves Missouri's public and private K–12 schools. Its purpose is to make schools safer by helping school districts and law enforcement learn about threats to student and school safety as early as possible.
What should be reported?
Report any concern for student or school safety — whether it is happening now, being planned, or something you have only heard about. That includes:
- Threats of violence, a planned attack, or a school shooting
- Weapons at school or on a school bus
- Physical assault or sexual offenses
- Bullying or harassment
- Self-harm, suicidal thoughts, or a threat to harm oneself
- Drugs or alcohol
- Human trafficking
- Threats of terrorism or violent extremism
Reports may involve incidents on school property, at a school event, or on a school bus.
Who can report?
Anyone with a concern can make a report — students, parents, school staff, and concerned community members. You do not have to give your name; reports can be made anonymously.
What happens after I make a report?
Every report goes to trained MIAC analysts, 24 hours a day. Analysts review the information and share it promptly with the school officials and law enforcement who can act on it, and those officials decide the appropriate response.
If you report online, you will receive a reference number and password when you finish. These let you check back or add more information later — without giving up your anonymity.
